For another friend. I wrote the first version in haste. Upon reflection I thought it might not be poetic enough. So I offer my second version for your judgement.
First attempt Only cowards resort to whacks If you meet one think hard and decide Is it time to be a coward and attack Or simply pack your bags and take a ride ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Second attempt The coward has an affair with fifty whacks Smiling, you think hard and decide The courage of a thousand women Is my lover, as I pack my bags and take a ride

I did not fully understand the meaning; or so I think.. I would say regaulating the syllabic meter in an epigram is 'de rigeuer'.. Balance is most imortant in meaning, music and mood (as expressed by diction).
