I wrote this a couple Christmas' ago reflecting on the men and women who risk their lives for our freedom and how tough it must be at Christmas while the rest of the world is celebrating with family.

Soldier At Christmas

Song to guitar

Don't Forget Me Sweet Jesus

By Sherry Bach - copyright 2010

Here I sit alone

Just the good book and me

I'm thinking about you and your words

Reading about how we'll see

Pain and sorrow, struggle and suffering

I can't find joy even in the little things

I don't want to be here

I want to go home

Don’t forget me sweet Jesus

Don't leave me here on my own

Outside my window

There's twinkling lights

It's that time of year

Where they're gonna sing

Songs about you and your birthright

But inside this heart

There's a thirsty soul

Longing for pure peace

And the lights of home

I don't want to be here

I want to go home

Don't forget me sweet Jesus

Don't leave me here on my own

They say if you listen

You can hear the sound

Of jingle bells and the snow fall

But the only voice that I've found

Pain and sorrow, struggle and suffering

I can't find joy even in the little things

I don't want to be here

I want to go home

Don’t forget me sweet Jesus

Don't leave me here on my own
