“Father, I have something
to ask you,” she said.
“Is America fighting
for the liberation
of the Iraqi citizens today?
Or is it fighting to liberate the oil.”

“I don’t know, my child!
I am perplexed,” I said.
But I think some day,
“We may really discern
the loon from the moon.”

Although all I know is this:
“No matter how full her belly is,
America will always be hungry
for the global peace.”

Father!
“But the way they are
digging their nose in Iraq
is actually the root of,
the bloodbath
in the post-saddam, land,”
she exclaimed with a deep sigh.

No, my child!
“Endowed with a
strong sense of justice,
they are trying to establish
peace in the war trodden land”

“When it is a question of peace,
America, never say, “I can’t.”
She does not shrink
from her responsibilities
-She welcomes it,”
I answered her back.

I refute, my father.
But the truth is this:
“To truly remove
the menace of insurgents,
and restore peace in Iraq;
America must stop
its exploitation and return back.”
She said, growing rather red.

“Ah, don’t say that.
If America returns back
without restoring law and order
then peace shall never shine in Iraq.”

"Do you think
they are fond of killing
and putting their
own lives at stake?"
I shrugged my shoulder
and replied her back.

“What a hoax!”
“Was that a paradox?”
she cried out loud.

Believe it or not-
“But whatever they are doing,
they are doing it for
the honor and welfare
of the whole Iraqi people.”
I roared with pride.

Oh! Father, whatever,
“Nevertheless,
if America is to really help Iraq;
It must rectify it’s own fault
and stroll with certainty,
the uncertain path
with a transparent heart.”
She replied back.

“It must win the people’s trust
and fight shoulder to shoulder
with them in their pursuit of peace,
and liberate them from the
bleeding grips of the insurgents.”

“It must impair
the criminal proclivities
of the fanatic extremist leaders,
and refurbish the hopelessness
of the poor masses
with the fervor of hope.”

“Will America have
enough courage
to rectify it’s own fault?”
She asked with a husky voice.

“If not, how, then,
shall Iraq be saved
from the iron paws of war?”
I whispered her back.

She raised her head
up to the gates of heaven.
“Before God I am telling
the truth,” she cried,
with smiles in her eyes.

“O, Worry not, my father!
From the utter darkness
of the violence;
a ray of love shall spring,
and Iraq shall again
be peaceful and free.”

“Ah! But while the world is mourning
the loss of those innocent Iraqis
and those coalition soldiers of peace
due to the extremist’s attack in Iraq.
I'm sure, deep down inside, even you
must be quietly wondering- What's next?”
I replied her back with tears in my eyes.

An extremely wise child, interwined within the arms of a father who does not have the answers, questions the actions and reactions which create more actions and reactions. This child may be 'What's next', Bhuwan, her and her brethern, our brethern.

A searching, poignant, gasping poem written by the mind and hand of a true Poet, who, too, questions.

I hate to show my profound ignorance, but how did Vietnam actually end - or did it? The cost in human and political terms goes on. When does the human cost become too great to win the political point? Is giving in and giving up ever right - or ever wrong? These are questions that become unanswerable when the truth is that what has come to pass has gone beyond the initial game plan and the end-goal shifts and floats waaaaaay outta sight. Since little else seems to be working, would it be impossible and the stuff of fairies to think that a day of world truce might be the most productive thing; where all call upon their faith or belief of whatever persuasion, and honestly are still before their own heart to see what it is really seeking - that will then be the means to find the answer to this global mayhem. Then the Ultimate Big Question might be revealed to which there is the Ultimate Big Answer. Perhaps just honestly facing up to the human motivational problems is the biggest problem in itself. As usual, I pontificate and digress - but don't we all? This poem, however, Bhuwan, keeps our eyes on the ball and brings us to the epicentre of purpose - preserving the next generation of humanity intact and sane - and preserving them a world to live in. I wish I had useful grain of peace to bestow for every useless word of comment that I freely utter. Perhaps we will only know the sage wisdom of this "daughter of war" when we ourselves experience it firsthand - and God Forbid, I say in the same breath! Perhaps doublemindedness is the root of all confusion. I am out of hand, here, for which I apologise. But also, out of ideas, like many others it seems. Let's pray that those who are in positions of influence and power to change things keep being inspired instead. Meanwhile, I know that you will do all in your human capacity to bring peace to your own vulnerable household - by protecting it with all your love and strength. No man could achieve more in human terms. God be with you. Love and prayers as always. Kate xx

Excellent recitation from the eyes of "a little girl." War is about innocence and naivete that might makes right; your questions are penetrating and unfortunately will never be answered in our lifetime.

I can foresee that there is going to be lengthy wars amongst the many groups even in Iraq itself, not to mention about the involvements of the U.S. I think it is getting out of hands.

U.S. is standing by to ensure the passing of the new laws which I think is of good devotion of the whole thing.

However, I don't agree to the loss of the innocent lives, but I guess it is expected as in many other wars. I just hope a solution for all groups and level will come to surface, and be compromised upon by all, and these ugliness of wars will come to an end. It is too heartfelt sad even to watch them on the T.V.

The only negative that I have to say is that I am very glad that dictator is locked up, however, I think the US should mind their own business and get out. I also feel so bad for Pakistan's leader. So, so sad!
