Single mother! I salute you
And your courage to lead your life
Normally for the sake of your child
Though deeply hurt, you hide it within
And smile to ease the life of your child
You have no desires but only the lone
Desire of seeing the happiness in your
Children’s beautiful eyes.
The lover, you thought, you had forever
turned out to be just a recreational dad
He used you as an object and ditched you,
when he found another object on the line.
Single mother, you are drenched with tears
But who will dry your tears with loves hand
You cannot cry aloud too cause you don’t
Want your child to see this pathetic sight
Single mother, you take breathe for others
You are the giver and not the beggar of life
But, when you are sick and depressed with
Life, who will sooth the pain that you have
Deep inside the hidden corner of your core
Single mother, you are helpless and when
the child asks for the daddy, then I know
you will head to the bathroom to wash your tears
Single mother, how will you march ahead in life?
When your world seems to be going further down
You are ruined by the love of your life but still
You love him much for the sake of your child
But all he gives you is impertinence as a prize
For trusting him and loving him with all your mind
He forgets everything and now calls you a whore
Single mother, I know you didn't think he would
Ever say these nasty words but now it is not to be so
Single mother, I feel your ache and your loneliness
I know you wish that you have somebody divine there
To hold you, to smile at you and say,” I care you a lot”,
For I know, what is running deep down inside your veins
But single mother, don’t you loose your hope and sob much
Remember that those, who have no company, have
Almighty Gods as their company. Single mother! I salute
you, but please never forget that you too are the,
“ The beautiful children of this mother Earth”.

Do you have any idea how many hearts are touched by such sensitive writing. When these ones who are alone with their fears and the overwhelming weight of responsabilities carried alone, to know that someone, somewhere, actually understands? Then not to take the bow, but to point to the only One who knows their beginning from their end and can bring the only totally encompasing comfort that they could know....

Thanks for this! What I took from it is a new understanding of what my mom was probably feeling so many years ago when she was raising me and my four brothers and sisters alone. We didn't have ANY other family near us either, so I know things were rough for her, but I was too young to understand. Now, with two children of my own, and after reading your beautiful poem, I have a better insight into what single parents go through every day and what I myself take for granted sometimes in my nine year marriage to the love of my life. Im very blessed and your poem only enforces my belief. Great job!

and totally understanding poem.I have been a single mum with my daughter Alexandra since she was born.Her dad and I are friends now again (just 'friends', no more than that)but for the first few years of my daughter's life we didn't have contact.We had been engaged to be married but we broke up when I was twelve weeks pregnant(unplanned) and to be frank it nearly killed me and her(the baby) after the break up and I spent the last month of the pregnancy in hospital due to high blood pressure (from stress I expect).Society is so cruel to us single mums,I was a divorced 40 year old when I became one,I had three almost grown up kids at the time (from marriage) and everyone was so shocked by my pregnancy(me too).The stigma that unwed mums face drives some of us to end the pregnancy rather than go ahead with it ,I couldn't do it (yes it crossed my mind for two minutes)but I can understand why some do end their pregnancys as so many people are very, very ,very cruel to us single mothers about us having a child alone... and it does not get easier with age...in fact I think it has been harder but I have stayed alone since the engagement break up and have not dated anyone since(by choice)...so dear Sir,the fact that you have acknowledged how hard raising a child alone is brings much relief and comfort to me, just knowing there is someone out there,(a male that's so Amazing!!!) who understands the hard side of it....thank you for your kindness sincerely....your poem will help many others too I am sure.You are a treasure.I wish I had of read this poem when my daughter was little (she is 11 years now) as it would have boasted me up.I am just breathless from this poem,Excellent work!
