I remember the day you were born
It was Monday at eight forty in the morning
Ten little fingers ten little toes
Tears of joy a healthy baby boy
I remember that very first tooth
It took forever before it broke through
I remember your first word
None other than "mom"
I remember your very first steps
Down you went
I remember your first day at school
I held my tears back until you were gone
I remember your first football game
And the many more that followed
I remember that night we walked on the football field
You held my hand and said this is our last time together on this field, football is over for me
Tears again then you said, mom please don't cry
I remember the musicals
Five years is a long time
Never told you but my favorite was
Fiddler On The Roof
I remember that first day in the drivers seat
I never told you how scared I was
I remember us checking out colleges
Those four years went so fast
I remember your very first job
Knew it wouldn't last long
You never gave up and kept on going
The years have gone by with memories to keep
But most important
I remember this very special day
A fine young man you are
Tucked away in my heart
