Reminds me of the time when my Thai friend took me to his sister's house in rural development on our way to Pattaya.
I waited in the car wondering about the 12 feet high concrete fence posts behind the house with a savannah beyond that stretched for miles.
Out of nowhere, several elephants appeared. The one that came close to the fence had tusks that not only reached the ground, they curved back up about 4 feet off the ground. I have never seen, even in pictures, an elephant with larger tusks except on mammoths in museums.
Unfortunately, my camera is broken and I have no pictures of my 20 days in Thailand in January 1978.
