There’s a cloud
for every lonely head
I saw daffodils; suddenly
I brightened up,
And was uplifted.
I ate my Kendal cake
and felt pretty full,
I brought my bottle
and my cup
A walk in Ambleside,
Wordsworth’s home,
Dove Cottage.
The woolly sheep
and the lakes,
In this part of England
it often rains,
Some poets like
to stay in with a book
when the weather's
inclement
I like being outside
but if there's a heavy downpour
I'm back inside the tent.
Byron's low opinion
of the Lake poets and the fell walkers;
Little Englanders, I suppose,
He's the man for
swimming The Grand Canal
in Venice,
and fighting for the Greeks
He does not walk in Ambleside
with William Wordsworth,
that's no' for him.
