I got a phone call from you today
and this is what you had to say -
"Sorry baby it ain't workin' out.
Being in love is not what I'm about.
Don't tell me you didn't see it coming."
So with the phone up to my ear
I say to you, "Listen here.
Don't tell me what I did or didn't see.
You leave my reality up to me.
Besides, I don't need you anymore either."
But the truth of the matter is
my whole world has shattered.
I'm so upset I could cry
but I really have no idea why.
What did I do to deserve this?
So I pack up my bags and grab my keys.
I decide that right now I have got to leave.
I change the message on my answering machine...
"I'm away on vacation from sanity.
Please leave a message after the beep."
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
