I wrote this for my brother. When I was little he shared a room with me because I was afraid of the dark. My wallpaper had ships on them. To get me to go to sleep, he told me to pick a ship and whatever dream that ship carried would be the dream I would have that night...

Pick a ship that sails the sea.
For each boat has a dream.
Some are good and some are bad,
But don't you fear.
For when the nightmare wakes you up,
I will be right here.
So close your eyes and rest your head.
Who will be your Captain?
The choice is yours,
So, All Aboard!
Tell me everything that happens.
Of chasing the baddies.
Or kissing the prince.
Of running the fields along the fence.
Of being with friends you have yet to know.
Going to places you've never seen.
Or being with friends you have had to let go,
Reliving your favorite memories.
But when the dream ends,
And you return to the boat,
That sails across the sea.
Use the stars as you map,
And the Captain as your guide,
To bring you saftely home to me.
Precious and vivd the memories of Whitmarsh Island and our home. The ships were frigates and tall ships...blockade runners and those of pirates...everynight was a fantasy with the journeys on the high seas and your creativity grew and prospered. Your brother...well..his crativity is found in his off spring and his love of stick people. Funny how two children born so very close can have so much difference between them but love and harmony grew within the walls. Today....you two are morte precious for the paths you've taken and the love you've given to all around you. This is a wonderful way to tell Lindsay thanks for being a big brother.
Love the poem but moreso you and Lindsay.
