And I knew…all along,
That the sway was
Carried over and over the way,
We used to be
Sleep now,
Safe and sound…no worries
As I’m here…
Caught in the memories,
Of sugar-sweet kisses,
And pain, and shame,
For nothing my eyes won’t see.
And the light…
Outlined the silhouettes, thrashed on the curtain,
The way that you and I,
Used to be…Wrapped up tightly…in skin, in sin, and sheets.
Say goodnight…and I’ll say goodbye
Alone…alone…
Trying not to cry as I stare at your window
But the girl in the light,
Wasn’t me…

Poet, this is an extremely heart-wrenching write, which often defines the inner struggles that a human being faces in its remembrance of a seemly endless love, which unfortunately has gone awry. Excellent work, I enjoyed the read. Thank you for sharing your work. Take good care and be well.
