If the shallow waters of my life had ever ran out,
What would I have been?
Nothing but a drowning victim, surrounded by all the things I thought I owned?
If ever there was a thing called forgiveness,
All I ask is that you please show it to me.
I was wrong.
I haven’t been grateful sometimes...
I didn’t say what I should have,
Especially to those who deserved to know the truth.
It just never came out right.
But in spite of this,
Show me mercy.
That is all I ask...
With nothing left laying at my feet.
And all these stones upon my back,
I’m sorry for the person I was.
What is right, and what is wrong Mariah...
Wrong is when we hurt ourselves first, before we begin to hurt others
Right is when we forgive ourselves first, before we forgive others...

The best way to show love is to forgive. Start by forgiving yourself first then move on and justify your life. Everyone can attest to days like this. You showed this to us in your poem.

Mom's right. The act of forgiveness starts with admission you were wrong, and forgiving yourself. Then, you can ask for forgiveness.
Excellent, searching write--well done!
