It's the same as always.
A sheep amongst the wolves.
I can't stand knowing what they're thinking,
Even though they're smiling at me.
I'd rather be alone on Christmas.
To hear the whispers behind my back.
Forcing myself to pretend that I don't notice.
The one place I used to go for comfort,
Is now the same place I'm desperately trying to run away from.
I'd rather be alone than berated.
The pity never leaves their eyes.
The condecention is always lingering in the back of their voice.
They're supposed to love me,
And they don't know me at all.
I can't take it this time.
The pain won't hold out for another year.

Being alone can become common. The important thing is to welcome the child into your life. As a fellow loner, I wish you nothing but happiness forever-more.

what happened that caused all this? I was intrigued by the title and was expecting something totally different, but this was a good piece. I've had times when I've felt the same way, although not at Christmas.
It was those times that I was thinking of while reading this.

I don't blame you, at least you will be with good company that understands you. Such a sad, soulful write.
