In a dark alley,
Someone cries.
Weak and lonely...sad and lost.
A child baring resemblence.
A shadow of me...
In the form of a child.
Crying in desperation.
And I watch her.
I feel what she feels,
Because we share the same soul,
The same fears...
The same shame.
She carries guilt no one should bare.
Feels pain that I wouldn't wish to anyone.
She knows she isn't good enough.
She never will be...
Not to the only ones she cares to be worthy of.
I am no longer a child though.
So why is the pain so fresh to me?
Why should I care?
She, like my childhood...
Is in the past.
But then I realize,
She's not the only one who is crying.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
