Come along,
let us splay our wings,
chase the sun,
spin
around the palms,
catch the scent of the sea,
the early breeze.

Let us celebrate Aphrodite
up from the sea…
Poseidon’s trident sustains us.

Let us visit
the shady side of lust,
the wicked cadence of the surf,
uninhibited scream of gulls.

Let us write
when the muse sings.

In long nectarous nights,
let us toast, touch…
map the constellations,
count the stars:
loves me,
loves me not,
loves me!

Let us be us,
you & i,
far from the assault
of city lights.

why do I suddenly find myself singing "Just an old fashioned love song," by 3 Dog Night? <g> I guess that's just the feeling this poem inspires within me. A refreshing reminder of romance! ;-)

An old navigator's map spread out on the beach sand, a coconut to share, navigating by the Southern Cross and Draco in far-away lands, just inches away from a seafarer's sextant giving rise to the moment, yes Let Us Be Us...billowy sailing to you, Gene...

...this has an honest healing touch to it; the laying of hands effect; how one finds themselves in the agony and ecstasy of another. . .even bringing the agony and ecstasy upon their w.hole BEing, like tides, in and out. .. and the sound.breaking.. .the intimate details, the intimate knowledge and memorials created along a desert.ed beauty. ..this feels, period; it jsut feels. .. youve gone from sound and its landscapes to skin and its escapes; im expecting a sight soon. .. .a vision of closed eyed understanding, of blending and bonding and something nearly breaking [barriers] that Echos, all senses. ... .again, this 'feels'. ...and i feel it, these words.

These are my favorite lines from this beautiful poem. You are a fine writer, yes, but more than that - you are an inspiration.

Yes, I concur, let us all be far from the assault of city lights and everything left unsaid that goes along with that description while we are visiting the shady side of lust. I like the sound of that.

Gene, a feast of delights here, the touch, the phrasing as light and sure as an elegant dance, and "...nectarous nights" is a killer!
