A LULLABYE OF KISSES

I'd weave you a lullaby of kisses
Then rock you on a gentle sea
Kiss your toothless little face
And hold you close to me

If you were once again my babe
I'd do it all again
But you have grown, my dearest one
Whats past is left....as then

Ah, the tenderness of a mother as she kisses her child good night and whispers sleep tight. 'Then' is a word that we take for granted, but in this poem, Anita, you have given it great significance. You have transformed it into a bank of memories. 'Then', if we so desire, could be our laughing place where we could encounter passing thoughts and smile. A pondering place where we could ask 'if' a question or two. And of course a retreat just to get away from now. In today's world how I often wish then was now. I share your sigh - but also for different, yet still uplifting reasons. Thanks for gently rocking my senses with this lullabye. Tha mi 'nad chomain a' h-Anita!

Beautiful, tender, emotional and the love of a mother is the very best love in this world. You have the grace, devotion and tenderness in your pen and in your heart.

Susan

So beautiful...I love your imagery, and the "toothless little face" line. I echo your sigh for those wonderful memories of our babies.

Connie
