Scattered And Uncounted

I want to know I counted
Somehow
I want to think
I mattered
I want to know for my own peace
Not
Simply to be flattered

I'd like to think within my soul
My times were not a waste
Pretending wounds can't make me bleed
And scars cannot be traced

I want the answers to the questions
My lips would never ask
Yet truth would prove a burden
My soul broke from the  task

I tell myself, it never was!
Parole...my own....release!
I walk away from questions
When wonder defeats
Peace

I want to know I counted
Somehow
Did I ever matter?
Was I an echo, on the wind
Thrown away
And scattered

Pax

Powerful theme...and quite a life question here. What's it all for and what is my purpose in the grand scheme...one day I believe it all comes clear but one thing I truly believe we all count...we are all valid. Panda :)

Oh Anita, these are perfect thoughts I know I've had, too, but have been unable to put them to words. Excellent poem, my friend. You've so well captured the essence of the human being, the poet, the writer ... we all want to know that somehow we've made a difference by being here. Well done!
Love,
CJ

The world is forever changed simply by our presence here, Anita. You make a difference to me, everytime I read one of your poems. You make me smile, you make me cry and you make me think. You certainly are more than an echo on the wind. I think if we touch one soul in our lifetime, our time here is worthwhile.
Take care,
Sherry

What an artist you are, Anita! :)) This debate and soliloquy forever rages round the minds of the intensely creative, who are totally unaware from the right hand what the left hand is doing and whose brain fully functions in both its spheres... Paranoia, schizophrenia, supreme lack of self-awareness... all are traits of the truly remarkable who inhabit not one self but a being in multiples... In other words, a Poet to a T! I'll ask my other half what the answer to your question is...

If the reason for us living could care for the little sparrows in the air, and the daffidols in the fields, then just think how much more He cares for us?

As the sun rises in the morning and the moon at night, you counted to many, and I count myself one of those who was glad I met you and got to read your words which always were special and unique.
