This is my one and only attempt at oil painting. I had it drying on my glass coffee table in the living room for two weeks during a break between classes. My little dog let his curiosity get the better of him, and he jumped up on the table and walked on the wet parts of the painting. His paw prints can be seen on the canvas, and they turned out looking like distant flowers. I left his addition to the painting as is, creating a collaboration between us both. I was about to quit the class. Everyone else in it had painting experience and I was the only newbie, leaving me feeling quite inferior. His addition to the painting sort of made me give it one more shot. lol

And laid before, cut from the vine
Flowered stems recline, then die
Alive for the moment and robust
Captured forever by my brush
Fushias in shadow, birds eye to eye
Oil paints take SO LONG TO DRY!!!
lol. Anita, you got to love the doggy. They know not what they do. I have 4 mini-Dachshunds, so I know how it can be. I like the message here. To capture the vitality of this world is reason enough to paint and write. You've done both here. Great job. Admirable to give the painting another shot, though you may feel like the underdog. Oh I remember the oil painting days of my youth, that is why I pencil draw or use water colors..lol I loved your story and your poem is beautiful.

Reminds me of my high school art class-don't laugh. Three now-famous artists were there, including James Lavadour. I like your painting, Anita, because its three-dimensional. I also like the round, soft image of the flowers in contrast with the sharp angles. Think its great that your dog walked on it and you liked the effect(wish I could see it)! There's a lesson in that. Clever poem--lol, yes they do!
