Ice Child



A woman yearned for motherhood
All throughout her life
Then thought one day to make a child
Formed of snow and ice

The winter wind saw the shape
It's cold caressed the form
And with a kiss from frozen lips
It came to life as born

Beware it told the mother new
Beware of many things
Beware of light, beware of sun
For it takes, what I bring

The mother did as mothers do
Protected, loved and guided
Her child did, as young and new
And with the rules, collided

Willful as the winter wind
Mindless of advise
Her mother's warnings on deaf ears
She thought the sun....so....nice

And then one day she was no more
She vanished in the spring
The mother cried a pool of tears
As nothing did it bring

And there the moral lies for all
For both parent and child
What comes too easy, goes as fast
As life is but a while
