By reverence to tradition, I've lost my very core
My outlay went beyond expense, and still I lost much more
When honor merely strips the soul and leaves an empty shell
Dark halls of silent chambers, where once a spirit dwelled
By reverence to tradition, I let my eyes go blind
Vision upsetting balance..... I tried to walk the line
Now I walk as a cripple, tradition as my crutch
Losing sense of self respect, numb and out of touch
By reverence to tradition, I went about my days
Functional....and yet....not there.....acting in a play
Shame on me for fooling them, living HALF a life
The price of honor is too high, it bled me like the knife

....And we keep on walking with our heads held high .... FOR ALL of the woman we are. Love your creativity. Sadness is dwelled upon so beautifully.
Thank you,

Anita,I am trying to believe my eyes; when I do, I'll comment..?
Traditions connect us to our past. They remind us of what our ancestors went through. Their endurance has allowed our survival. What you have done is taken the past and correctly applied it to your future. It is something to know, but not necessarily to live by.
This is an incredible poem. It is extremely well-written and expresses a great deal. At least to me.

Many of us cant shake tradition..Well conveyed .. Well don!!!
Explains the realizations that have given the author the views of living life fully. The life each person dreams about.
You must take a look at yourself before dreams can be reached.
Deciding what is the core of belief.
