Our friends are long gone,
They’ve all headed for home,
And left us in the woods
Where we stay.
But oh we had fun,
In the afternoon sun,
Playing Corn-Hole,
And singing Karaoke to the bats.
Now it’s just you and I,
Out on the deck so late at night,
Wrapped in a quilt,
And sitting on a cooler full of beer.
The Cuervo’s half gone,
And it took my inhibitions along,
And I’m wailing Hank Jr.’s song
About Family Traditions.
We’re a couple of old fools,
As I join you in a tune,
A Bonnie Raitt number
That we both know.
The Citronella burns nearby,
The bats silently fly,
And we’re singing Karaoke
To the night time sky.
Life with you has always been so delightful,
In thirty six years
I’ve never known you to be spiteful,
And there is wonder in the simplicity.
We may sing off key,
But it doesn’t matter to me,
I’m just happy to be with you tonight,
Even if we’re just
Singing Karaoke to the bats.
