Poem Artwork

The chords of my life are playing
With some finality,
Lulling me, ever gently
Into a mellow reverie,
While I cry so loudly
From somewhere deep within,
For peace
And serenity,
But the killing forces
In my chromosomes
Could somehow
Not care less,
And so I’ll die alone
With the friends I’ve known
Who died like all the rest,
After giving all they had to give
Of their very best,
But no one noticed
And much worse
No one cared.
They all cast lots
And took their shares,
And shed no tears at all.
And the human race
Will die in place
And cast their ashes in the wind,
And I’m crying…
For what might have been,
While the Lord of all,
Can’t watch the fall,
So He’ll do it all again
In some other world,
And He is crying.

Your last line... thanks for sharing it...
Sometimes that is the only thing that keeps me going...knowing that when all is said and done, there IS someone who loves me and cares, unconditionally, irrevocably, without measure...and knowing the He cries too.

Two poems by Dylan Thomas come to mind... "RAGE, Rage against the dying of the light..." and "...And I am dumb to tell the hanging man/ How of my clay is made the hangman's lime..."

Our lives are but a minute in God's time. Our trials, merely half-a-second to Him...

I sure am glad I'm not an ant. They don't live very long-- and all that busy work to keep their colonies going, and then being crushed by my careless shoe... to them who live so short-a-life, that agonizing death must seem like years and years... but it is all just a moment... just a moment, and then we're cupped in the hands of God. --Charlie
