Operations of the universe proceed

In the most admirable ways,

But it says not a word about them.

Four seasons observe the clear laws,

But they do not discuss them.

All things that have their accomplish

And distinctive constitutions, however,

Say completely nothing of them.

Men trace out the universal operations

And reach to and understand

The distinctive constitutions of things;

And it is that they are said to emulate

The most amazing thing about nature--

Its infinite variety. Such language

Showing that they look to Heaven

And Earth as their speechless patterns.

In a word, the most amazing thing

About men is their capability
