Poem Artwork

This is the reed
Swinging in the river flow
To be brushed through
By the egret's strolling.

You can't picture
All the beauty --
There's no background
For your colors exposing.

Hence, appearance of the egret
In doom and gloom of your calm
Is simply a zest to the scene of life.

They do blend right in with the browning tall grasses. Nature is amazing!

I like Michael's response. It seems to fit the mood suggested in the poem. Realistically, I see reeds that seem to be impenetrable by the Egret. And there is no color, although the green of the reeds and the blue of the water reflecting the sky would be intense.

A beautiful bird lost amid the reeds, eerie.

The strolling egret is a zest for life to the calmness of the stalks of reed. They complement each other, bringing to picture perfection.
