VW developed a car for China - Coming out Next Year? Cost - 4,000 Yuan, or $600.00 Single-Seater gets 258 Miles per Gallon! 1.7 Gallon Fuel Tank / Range - 404 Miles! Top Speed - 74.6 Miles per Hour! Impact and Roll-Over Protection - Equivalent to GT Racing Cars! A One-Cylinder Diesel Engine - Carbon Fiber Body - No Paint! Might be a Tad difficult to Find On a Mall parking lot Full of Them! Questions? I have Plenty - But ... Consider the Engineering Marvel Alone! The Most Economical Car in the World! So - What If ... Each of The Big Three Was Smart Enough to Buy One - And Figure It Out? Using the Same Technology - Could a Slighter Larger Version Hold Two People - And Only get 100 MPG? How about Four and Only 50 MPG? Possible? Probable? Too Good to be True? YEP! All of the Above was in an Email Received recently from a ‘Good Buddy.’ Sounded Great - wanted to Share - BUT ... I GOOGLED IT FIRST! The Info from the Email was Two Years Old! This ‘Aero’ L-1 Car is For Real - But, Might Cost over $25,000 ! Have you seen Any on the road Yet? Per Leslie Berlient’s Article on June 18, 2009. VW also has an ‘EcoRacer’ Sports Model Also! A Two-Seater, in Tandem. For more Info - see Links at End. Parenthetically, sometime in the early ‘80’s My Wife and Kids were all Excited - I just Had to see this cute little Red Car! We All drove Back ... It was a Two-Seater, in Tandem - Like the Cockpit of a Plane. Two Wheels up Front - With a Third, Smaller Wheel at the Rear! The Engine/Transmission was some kind of Turbo - No Gears - More Gas - More Speed - Aero-Dynamically equivalent to a Porsche! It was a Car Kit - you Assembled Yourself! Think it was a Martin, or Murphy? That was about Thirty Years Ago - Never Ever Saw One on the Road! Too Good to Be True? CAR PooP ... Some Good - Some Bad ... I doubt they've missed the boat; I think they torpedo and sink any boat that doesn't match their Gas Guzzling Dreams.

Yep, Chip said it below...& even the new Fortwo car won't survive long as the big manufacturers will likely push them out of business & if you look at the ads for them, they don't get any REALLY good mileage anyway, even though they are so small and all...Ed

Intereating...paranoid old fart that I am, I don't think it would get any traction here in the U.S. Too many people makimng too much money on gas and car parts for them to weant to let any solution survive that would cut into their profits.
