It is a hot summer day.
I stand on the hillside at the cemetery
Visiting with family and friends
Of the baby.
I look back at the small grave
And see the small white casket
With tiny pink roses.
She was born without life
And took a piece of so many
Hearts with her.
What catches my eye this time
When I look is the man in black
Kneeling on one knee,
Prayer book in one hand,
The other hand on the casket
Saying prayers
With tears of sorrow
Streaming down his cheeks.
I quickly turn away
As the tears start
To fall from my eyes.
