She drove down the bumpy dirt road

to the summer camp.

Almost everyone from the church

Would be there before her.

As she pulled up to the entrance,

It was just getting dark.

She recognized the small blond boy

Sitting on the rock.

He was one of her Sunday School kids.

She drove slowly by him and parked the car.

As she got out she saw him running

Toward her, arms in the air,

a big hug to share.

She felt the scratch of the small

paper sack on her neck.

When he took his arms away

He said  “ I got you a present today!”

And passed her the bag.

She couldn’t help but notice

the bag flickering….

She carefully peeked and found

     Many fireflies flashing a

greeting of joy.

Honey, this is the very best present

I have ever received from anyone!

But I think God would want us

To set them free to share

His love with others

As you have shared it with me.

And she gave him another big hug….

He agreed.
