My little sister lies in a hospital bed.

Her long dirty blonde hair spread out on the pillow.

She has been there several weeks now…

A strangulated hernia that ruptured

Sending its poison throughout her system.

She is unconscious, unaware of why we are there.

They tell us there is no more to do.

Her life support hisses in the background of our sorrow.

We are here to start saying our goodbyes.

When the Dr returns from vacation

They will decide when the hissing will cease

Got a call today …they are moving her to Portland

There may yet be one more chance…we must just wait and see

Three days later and she is sitting in a chair

Miracles can happen if you pray hard enough.

It has been several months now and she is still

In the hospital…It may be as much as nine months they say.

Each day brings a small bit of progress.

Miracles can happen…healing takes time

Life is worth it.
