Sore throat

It starts as a tickle

In the back of your throat

And progresses to

An itching you

Cannot reach to

Scratch.

The heat wants for nothing

But cold…

Ice,

Ice cream,

Ice water

To quench the

Flames that will not

Leave till

The fire

Burns out.
