On Christmas Eve,
The world around
A breeze blows
Gently carrying sleepy seeds
To the eyes of the children
As they gather at windows
Hoping to get a glimpse
Of a jolly old man in a sleigh
Pulled by reindeer.
As soon as they sleep
It blows him up to
The rooftops and chimneys,
Gently pushing him down
To the trees
And when his sack is empty
It pulls him back up
To the sleigh
To continue his trip.
When he finishes with the gifts
For the last sleeping child,
It gives one big blow
And carries him
Back to the North Pole.
As he settles down by the fire
With one last cup of hot chocolate
And cookies
It blows one last set of sleepy seeds
To the eyes
Of the Jolly old man
Who has completed his work for another year
And truly deserves a good rest.
