It is a cold winter day

In New England,

One of those days

That even the sun

Can warm up.

The TV is on and

Even the dog show

Just trotted an

Eskimo Dog across

The screen.

But the smells

Coming from my kitchen

Remind me of other

Sundays as a little girl,

Coming home from church

To a wonderful

Chicken dinner

In the oven

And family gathering

Around the table.

Chicken Dinners,

Food and warmth

 for body and soul.

Pleasant and pleasing memories indeed, Susan. Much better to fill your mind with those than to allow those other ones to creep in.... Keep em coming.

Thanks Dick

I also have loving memories of Sunday dinners after coming home from church. That chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy were even more delicious because they were made by 'mom' and the table was surrounded by the rest of the family. Ahhhhh, those were the days. Thank you for bringing back such a beautiful memory.

It is so special to come home to the smells of Sunday dinner (or any day's dinner, for that matter.)
The Eskimo dog adds a clever touch to this chilly-day poem.

Remembering the special times of gathering and sharing,
Susan, we've lost many of them and are the poorer for it.
Lovely warm meals and lovely thought.

A wonserful memory. To me it seems like Suday dinners were more important then. Today it's all grab and go....Like the poem, LOVE the poet!!!
