It's all a matterm of perspective as we hike our way through life....

MOUNTAIN THOUGHTS

My road stretches before me

Always rising: a mountain trail

With no end of switchbacks,

And like in the mountains,

I can only see the next step

And never the destination.

Then I come to treeline..

I can look ahead, see my destination.

I watch the other hikers

Struggle along the same path.

Same, but somehow different.

Though it appears to be as one.,

Your path and mine

Might be identical and yet

How we travel those same miles

Makes my journey seem other,

Totally unlike yours,

As if we were a world away..

The difference, I think

Comes in what we see on the trip:

Whether forest beauty or wasteland,

High summit or mud and rocks.

The same things seen differently

Say a lot. Do we see the hike

As opportunity or burden?

I do prefer the uncrowded path for there is where unique opportunities lie. Patrick

Chip, It's all "....in the eyes of the beholder," as some wise person once said. I like where you're coming from here,,, and where you've gone with it.

Thanks Dick

A wonderfully self-aware and wise poem, Chip!
We will see our inner reflections everywhere we go.
"as opportunity or burden" :)
Be well,
Christine

seeing the next step, Chip, might be
more important than the destination;
yes, the difference lies

'in what we see on the trip'

you've said it there.

i'm journeying with you all the way.

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
