Monochrome
Drab
Shades of gray
Until I die
No colors
It’s hard to live
In a world
Without color
Too much color
Has been
DANGEROUS
To me
In the past.
I like dangerous
I LOVE color
Always have
Everyone says
I shouldn’t.
So I guess
I’ll have to
Get used to
Monochrome
Drab
Shades of gray
Until I die.
I like this unique take on what aging does to our perception, going from the fiery hot emotions of youth and dangerous risk-taking, to the rather drab and dull endless days of boring routine and fending off growing infirmity leading to the inevitable… Perhaps that's why some people, like Ernest Hemingway, cut it short.
