MY BEST FRIEND

I was a little girl seven decades ago
And I dreamed of exploring the world
I wished for a true friend to speak to share
My stories of when my world is dark or bright
I am hoping for the rainbow after the stormy night!

I wondered away how to find “A Best Friend.”  
I remember memorizing quotes and sayings
Defining the meaning of “A Best Friend!”
“A friend in need is a friend indeed!”
A Best Friend will bring the best out in you.
And will be by your side when you are in trouble.
If they leave you in your trouble alone,
I am afraid they are called “Summer Friends!”

I am keeping my fingers crossed
And hope soon I will find “A True Friend”
Who will become “My Best Friend!”
Of course, I don’t need a friend who
Will be following me like my shadow!

I have found a few sayings on Best Friends
I am impressed with a few and want to share
This one is by Abhishek Tiwan, he says
“If you ask me how long I will be your friend?
My answer will be, I don’t know,
Because I don’t know which is longer
‘Forever or Always!’

Another one I want to enjoy together
By Melchor Lim, this is what he says
“The alphabet begins with ABC,
Numbers begin with 123,
Music begins with do-re-me and
Friendship begins with you & me!”

I wonder where that “You Friend is hiding?”
I have been travelling to many cities
in many countries
I have become like the rolling stone
So! I guess I did not gather any moss!
I did not attract “A True Friend” during my short stay
Otherwise, I would have “A Best Friend !!!”


Oh! How will I find “My Best Friend!”
How do I search for one and where do I go?
Is it like learning to read & write, or math or music?
I remember learning to memorize the alphabets
Otherwise, I could not read or write
Or learn to count 1234… and continue to 100…
I learned to write & recite the multiplication tables
So, I could buy my favorite things, live in comfort
To enjoy my food & sweets to be happy.
Then going to school to learn; so, life becomes easy!
And find a friend – who I can call “My Best Friend!”
To tell my stories & listen to my best friend’s ones… 
In this world “Life is all about learning & sharing.”
