The crime is…it only takes a second
An instant
A blink of an eye
Your heart skips a beat
Time skips a moment
A horn blasts
There is a sound which cannot be processed
It looks like your child in the road
Lifeless.
It is your big bang
A black hole in the universe Stephen Hawking can’t touch
You grab what you must
But to hold it you cannot exist now
So you don’t
You exist a moment ago
With all that you are you can’t let the hands on the clock move
It is your life you hold, and you can’t let it cool
Because the source of warmth is gone
You make the warmth blend with yours
It must forever
Nothing else is real…
People, sirens, stretchers, blankets,
Shouts, tears, yelling…
All distractions
Time is not measured by a ticking clock
But by your voice speaking your child’s name
Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick
Your soul is poured out
You are the machine flat lined
