Dear Lord I’ve got a question.
May I ask you?
Do you mind?
It’s about this race of people
That I hear you have designed.
I have tried to find a trace of you
In everyone I meet,
But it seems you are the part of them
Life wishes to defeat.
Where is happiness?
The color of your presence in our lives?
Where’s the joy in all your children?
Where’s the spark of you that thrives?
Where’s the rainbow in the cloudy day
You promised we’d get through?
If I cannot find it soon
I don’t know what I’m going to do-
Where are you?
Forgive me please for asking-
But I have to think it’s wrong,
All my loved ones here are crying
Like they just don’t know the song.
But it’s written here so clearly
Thank you Jesus I can see,
But I’m singing here alone
And I am missing harmony.
Where is happiness?
The color of your presence in our lives?
Where’s the joy in all your children?
Where’s the spark of you that thrives?
Where’s the rainbow in the cloudy day
You promised we’d get through?
If I cannot find it soon
I don’t know what I’m going to do-
Where are you?
Then I think I hear you answer-
There’s a choice we have to make,
We can give our hearts to you
Or just complain at how they break,
And then I know you try
To bring us to that
Very special place,
Where nothing else can matter
But to know your holy grace.
There is happiness-
The color of your presence in our lives.
If we come as little children
With your spark of love that thrives-
If we shine it makes the rainbow
That will always see us through,
If we let you be our happiness
We find out something new…
It is you.
Your faith is reaffirmed via your verses, John. Inspirationally powerful. Thank you. Love and peace to you,
Regis
