After Swim
Two towels- labeled his and hers…
A miracle of love occurs
As we do drop them, one by one-
The time of us at last begun.
We dance, as slow as dances get-
Without those towels, dripping wet-
With droplets from the pool, and tears-
We’ve waited for this love for years.
My trembling hand across your spine-
You hold it calm with love Divine,
Our arms around each other- crush-
But still so slow, we will not rush.
Not this, for all the time we waited-
Kiss- so long anticipated-
Gentle sounds, our bodies singing-
Wondrous gifts our love is bringing.
Thought we’d never see this day-
But knew that it would be this way-
With breathless whispers, “I love you,”
And knowing this is what we do.
Into the bed, our love descending-
How about a happy ending?
Yet we’re lost in giddy grins-
This is just how it begins.
