Power of the Rain

The rains came pouring down,
as the wind howled in the air,
the river made a roaring sound,
thunder cracked, lightening glared.

Icy cold water pounding the earth,
flowing intensely, creating a stream,
dawn’s dim light, a new day’s birth,
awaking in the storm from our dreams.

Trees bending, all they can give,
branches whipping, in all directions,
nature’s fury upon the land we live,
such awesome might and perfection.

Dark and gloomy sky of grey,
clouds from which the rain falls,
bringing darkness to the light of day,
seeking shelter behind four walls.

Beneath our feet it turns to mud,
realizing the power of the rain,
rivers overflow creating a flood,
nature’s power in the form of rain.
