Demons can lurk in the darkness of night,
when your sound asleep lost in a dream,
creating anxiety, terror, and fearful fright,
the subconscious of self-serving schemes.
We have issues revolving around being fair,
from the bold face lies to our little white lies,
thoughts and disappointments we never share,
emotions involving love ones and family ties.
As we lay to rest our spirit stirs the inner fire,
festering deep within the corridors of our mind,
containing successes, disappoints, and desires,
tucked away where conscious can never find.
Remember when you lay your head down to rest,
and relax falling into that deep slumbering sleep,
thoughts turn to dreams can spark nightmarish pest,
which appear so real we tremble, sweat, and weep.
Awakening remember it might not be an illusion,
just because you can’t understand the message sent,
and it may plague your thoughts creating confusion,
just wondering what precisely it all really meant.
Sam, I sometimes believe our dreams are fears that sit idle in our sub-conscious, waiting for the time to explode into a terrible nightmare. This poem aroused my mind to stop and think about some of the dreams I've had in the back of my mind; many times, I can follow the dream to a fear I've had in days long gone by. This causes the reader to stop and meditate. I like it!
