Golden Sage

mother always told me
i'd understand one day
little did i know
her words were
golden sage...

i'd rather...starve than listen

thinking, i was so wise
my mother, knew nothing
i stumbled through life
building castles
made of hay...

i'd rather...crawl than walk

filled with youthful wisdom
many mistakes, I made
never try to correct me
i'd listen to nothing
she had to say...

i'd rather...hurt than heal

mother always told me
i'd understand one day
now looking at my children
her words chime, golden sage...
