Reader’s Hearts
One must first ask the question in order to understand. Author
Which way shall I take the course to my reader’s hearts?
What scale and tools do I collect with?
What voyeur’s wrap I claim in readiness?
My readers have I know not what in their heads.
I cannot see the contents of their matter,
Their likes, their gads. They linger somewhere
There I believe to what they know
From an old past new. Theirs is a knowing world.
To find the moods of their ways,
Their moments of taste and desire.
From the web, I feel them try
The clout of the word -
Quick comment, sudden excerpt -
And drop from view to calm
To conceal their vibrant, showy wants.
To find just some in the world
Is a matter of looking ahead,
At first and deciding whether to go beyond,
Means traveling further and further each day
To reach just the ones;
It could be wise to know their faith,
Not converting but studying their daily devotion
To shop at will.
Following their trends, gathering new things:
Understanding new desires of the heart,
I might feel newness,
And nobody, all the unknowns, will now know;
If one has no agent, publisher voice
Will keep one exposed,
Or the web of matter, connecting,
Will do the same, over time.
In case of recognition,
Running on to glory,
Don’t try to coax the ego awake,
The nameless of one’s mind knows nothing
About celebrity; it will shudder one totally
And scramble the thinking.
The unfamiliar partitions of the brain and feeling
Beasts and flowery naysayers
Are the ages of my father come to bear,
Or will be for next generation’s benefit:
And for sure hope luck to smile a lot,
Unless I weaken in devotion,
That I harbor this pretext,
Where course is subject to a wanton age.
Gather, flock with us; examine all to beyond:
Valiant person have surpassed our time.
