The 'real me'
I shall never be the same again
My eyesight not so clear
My hearing lessened on both sides
Though I escape more fear
I shall never have the strength I had
The resilience in my heart
To combat whatever I must face
Now I have lost a part
My life will not be diminished
On a different road I'll walk
In isolation, if I don't meet
Someone to whom I'll talk
I know not, I care even less
What fate I now await
No one will see the real me
For that, they are too late
This will be a poem in another book - some are written, some are not.
