When you left the house today and loudly slammed the door,

did you know you had a friend as you drove wildly to the store?

When the clerk made that mistake and gave you an extra ten,

as you put it in your pocket, He was right beside you, then.

When that driver cut you off and you yelled that nasty word,

your friend was right there in the back, he certainly overheard.

As you groaned and grumbled when the time was getting late,

he heard your angry words and felt the furious hate.

Then, when you got back home and your child gave you a hug,

he saw you crush his spirit as though it were a bug.

Arguments then filled the air, throughout the entire dinner,

he saw not one attempt at peace, and no one was a winner.

As you went to bed tonight, forgetting again to pray,

he blessed you all and gave you love, and didn’t go away.

He’ll care for you and be right there, until the very end,

for Jesus is a patient soul, an ever-present friend.

If you choose to call on Him, He’ll ease your daily cares,

and as a friend, He’ll talk to you and answer all your prayers.

He’ll forgive you everything you’ve done, and give you a new birth,

and all the riches in the world could have no greater worth.

New life in Christ you will receive, with blessings beyond measure,

the heavens He’ll open up to you, there is no greater treasure.
