I wanted a magic mountain
to see fire on the hilltop
and dream of golden fields
but my homeland faded into dust.
All I got was a fireside chat
a bowl of soup, and a bed pillow
for my neck
in a city for the unrested.
Abandoned and lonely
afraid and tired
I was disowned, cast away to my own devises.
I've seen tomorrow through a black morning's eye
felt iron rain pelting me down -
in a half way town to no where taken in distant family
who no more know me than a fox hanging round
in an empty hen house looking for a handout.
No family, country, an orphan of god
weary, sick spiritless looking for a guiding sign.
Where are you now brother demon with your false
promises made offering golden worlds?
A universe to call my own you said!
My guardian angel has not seen me
but a kind hand was offered.
I took the day's blessing with graciousness
and dignity I didn't know I had.
A home has found me
warmth and friendship, understanding
and no misconstrue d perceptions
of who and what I was.
I feel at home
Pillars rise of the landscape in a brilliant fire
where heaven and hell separate, there's leeway
where rivers flow in peaceful tranquility.
I know my family waits for me there
someday I'll be an orphan no more
but a man to build his own city
and have a family of his own.
