When I was a child I read a lot. Many of the heros in story books I read taught me important principles which I still apply to my life. I hope our children always have the priveledge of reading books.
I had a friend when I was ten. He made life an adventure. He taught me how to face my fears and train my human nature. We traveled to ports far away, faced muggers, thieves and such. From books, and stories he would tell, I learned so very much. �Go to the heart of danger.� Tod Morgan said to me. �For it�s at the seat of danger that a man can find safety.� I�ve always lived Tod Morgan�s Creed and I still do today. It�s helped me win each battle as I've travelled on my way. He taught me the secret of life, �Each man must someday die! And brave men feel stark terror too, the same as you and I. But, they fight on in the face of fear, doing what needs be done. So choose a cause that�s worthy. Make your life a noble one." Go to the heart of danger. Be all that you can be. For only at the heart of danger can a man ever be free. So look your fear straight in the eye before you make your stand. And drink wine from the sweetest vine before you play your hand.

Lonny, Mine was East of the Sun, West of the Moon.. drove my mom crazy begging to read it again and again.. it's an old Norse tale.. sigh.. This is a lovely poem and to me it demonstrates how beautifully you are able to recapture that sweet voice of youth and make the words shine with an irrisistible nostalgia. You have made me think.
I never thought danger had a heart
before but if it does I hope it never lets me find it as I am a total chicken.I will leave the danger stuff to you men especially if bugs spiders barking dogs or sinking ships are in the picture,'save the women and children first!' that's my motto when danger is near.(wink wink)

Seriously though,it is good to face fears and courageous to to walk where danger resides,sometimes we must do it for the sake of those we love and at times even for our own sakes.
Your poem is wise and well written.You have made me think and I may do a poem too now on 'hearts,' perhaps fears heart?anyway you have me thinking.
