Making those noises,
Tap! Tap! Tap!
If I open the door
What will you do?
Frighten me more?
With a scary, “Boo!”
I’m safe as can be
In my own house.
It’s probably just a bird,
Or a little mouse.
Who’s In My Closet?

If I lock you in
Will you just break free,
Give an angry shout and
Chase after me?
What will I see
If I peek through a crack?
If I walk right in
Could I never come back?

I can’t call Mom
For then you’d know
That I’m standing here
Shaking head to toe.
But I can’t go to sleep
Until I see

Are you a burglar
Waiting until dark?
Hiding in my closet
So the dogs don’t bark?
Or an escaped mad man
On the run,
Who kills little children
Just for fun?

I’ll never get to sleep
Without looking inside.
Shall I throw the door open
Before you can hide?
Here I come,
Ready or not
You best step back
Look what I've got
I’m coming in now
With my baseball bat!
