Such wonderful thoughts. We all have been given a great deal, especially those of us who consider ourselves successful. Time to give back and help future generations.
I hate pledging because it gives an opportunity for someone to feel good about stating that they will "give" and then later forget about or actually be unable to give what they pledged. And giving doesn't have to mean money. Like your poem suggests, your time and your compassion are far more valuable.
This is a poem which should be read each day as we drink our first cup of java. It says so very much. Even those of us who do not have much can still give someone who could use it . . . a smile.
