Sometimes, in a very dire situation, only cowards survive. But if you're talking about relationships, being cowardly certainly won't help a relationship.

The title of this poem is "Coward", and I supposed that is what you have written how a coward would feel. I sensed there is a lot of disappointment being felt by you, perhaps towards the people whom you should care. Yet, your past experiences with these loved ones have caused you to think twice about sticking out your neck to safe them again.
