The Soldiers Who Stand Before Us
By: Josh Burket
The President's call to cause a country to fall,
Which soldiers? Send them all, can't imagine what they saw.
A father named Paul, who was part of the call,
He stood up tall, and walked with them all.
Not the only one called, with a child still small,
Caught in a downfall, no longer able to fight for us all.
With no memory or recall, all he can do is crawl,
Stand and salute Paul, who sacrificed it all.
Our kind can discover science, but where is the reliance,
We need better guidance, with no more defiance.
The world needs balance, not more violence,
The soldiers absence, is bringing more silence.
We've given our patience, enough of this nonsense,
So let's come to a consensus, bring them home in an instance.
Should I tell another story, maybe give the details fully,
Pick one of the plenty, as another home is empty.
We owe it to thee, because it is our duty,
We live our lives freely, they've given us the safety.
Behind them is misery, because war has been ugly,
Wearing that uniform proudly, back to those they love dearly
