Something Tiny and Very Round, in the Morning

There is a tiny note, very round and sad
like a tear held
in the happy song pouring from the beak
of an aquatic bird – or me, in the flow of this morning.

A tiny seed, very round and sad
like a violet that does not sprout
in the laughing expansion of agrimonies and dreams
of sunflowers rising – or me, in the garden of this morning.

A tiny sigh, very round and sad
like the gust, contained, of a hesitant wind
in the air, clean and of hopes untied – or me, breathing deeply, this morning.

But suddenly, a tiny glow
very round and warm
like a blink of a star still awakening
lightens a whole sky within my eyes
and because I drink it, reap it, and inhale it in your eyes
at last is acquitted, in the open light, this tiny shadow
very round and sad.

The essence, is of love that sparkles, pure and vast
within the kiss that follows, very round and whole
like a chrysalis whence, with wings, unfurls the day
- or us, quite simply, recreating life, once more
this morning.

"It only takes a spark to get a fire going
and, soon, all those around will warm up in its glowing."

That is the feeling that embraces me
when I read this poem.

Truly a poets poem in the awakening of a new day. Majestic, as it is profound, in its beauty. May the garden of your life have flowers that never fade.
