Some months ago, I have joined a very interesting literary group, which includes writers from all countries where Portuguese is the official language, as well as authors from Galicia - northern autonomic region of Spain, whose official language is the Galician (Galego), very close to Portuguese. Among the activities of this group, there is the creatively stimulating one of writing collective poems, based on a previously announced excerpt of a poetic work by a well-known author - a different one each week. The poem I'm posting here, today, is the translated version of the one included in one of the above mentioned collective poems. That particular one included the contributions of 11 poets, and was based on an excerpt of the poem "Chuva Oblíqua" ("Oblique Rain") by the internationally renowned poet Fernando Pessoa. Should any of you be interested in knowing more about this activity, which could be something worth trying here among the AD poets, please feel free to contact me, I'll be happy to share further information on this with you. Meanwhile, I hope that you may enjoy my poem, and wish you all a great weekend.

Beveled Arrival
For once, no reply from echoes or shells; The island fades, lined of wind in the dispersal of gods and time recoils within the cadence, vertical delayed by the cloud; But I untie the call upon the muted sand and then listen to the corporeal chant of a fluid longing… Thus, I rise my face to the words, and the antiphon draws clefts upon the shore when the rain pours, at last beveled and humanized.

Alexandra,
This is a poet's poem ... one of which
Fernando Pessoa would be proud.
You are the antiphon drawing clefts upon the shore.
Your words are the rain, sometimes pouring and
sometimes falling softly from your soul to bathe and refresh us.
I do not follow nor understand some of the phrases, but it rolls pleasingly off the tongue, and has a longing and a flow to it. Thanks, Alexandra. Peace. Joyce
Ah rain, the nectar of the gods, and all is right with the world. Neat portrayal of a sun baked beach yearning to come alive with the caress of a cooling rain. At least that's the way I saw it.
